The Great Wall of China

GREAT WALL OF CHINA

An emperor name She- Huang was tired of the constantly attack of the barbades of the Hunos, so he called his people to do something so they can defend once for all.

The Chinese worked on the Great Wall of China for approximately 1700 years so the Great Wall was built in many dynasties and right now it is a touristic place. The construction of the Great Wall began around 1474. The first emperor to start this was Emperor Qin. The emperors wanted to built it to protect the dynasties and their people.  Emperor Qin used peasants or captured enemies to make them build the wall and they were not paid. During its construction more than one million people died because of falling rocks, exhaustion, diseases, etc.  After Emperor Qin’s death, other emperors continued building it most of them followed his plan of forced labor.

The Great wall is actually the longest man made structure in the world. It is around 3,460 km with 2,860 extra km of branches and spurs. Before the Ming dynasty it was made with adobe and stone but after that dynasty they started using bricks.   The great wall was a symbol for the chinese both physical and physcological. It is a sing of Chinese strength and a representation of a barrier to keep out foreigners and have control over the citizens.
